Fine Arts Exhibit

Grades K-12                                                                    

Each year Wakeman BGC showcases the artistic talents of our members in conjunction with Boys & Girls Club of America’s National Arts Contest, which enables Club youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through visual arts.


This year's theme, The Power of Us, celebrates the strength, unity, and impact that comes from working together. Participants are invited to reflect on the importance of community, connection, and collaboration, whether among friends, families, or broader groups.


Entries will be accepted from WBGC Members in the following categories:

 

  • Applied Arts: Jewelry making, woodworking, fashion design, furniture design
  • Digital Arts: Animation, music production, graphic design, film making
  • Literary Arts: Fiction & nonfiction, poetry, and scriptwriting 
  • Performing Arts: Spoken word, dance, music, and theater/acting 
  • Visual Arts: Drawing, painting, pastel and sculpture 



Participants compete in four age groups:


  •  Ages 6-9
  • Ages 10-12
  • Ages 13-15
  • Ages 16-18


Entries will be evaluated on: Thematic Accuracy • Visual Display & Audio Quality • Artistic Merit • Creativity • Originality and Skill Level


All entries must be received by 6PM on February 10, 2026.

Wakeman Boys & Girls Club Fine Arts Exhibit


Exhibit:  Wednesday, February 18, 2026, 6:30 - 7:30 PM at the Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse (2414 Fairfield Ave, Bridgeport, CT)


One entry per age group, per category will be selected by Wakeman Boys & Girls Club to proceed to the National Contest.
