Wakeman BGC's basketball leagues provide an environment for players to learn and improve upon the basics of basketball and practice good sportsmanship while having fun and making new friends.

Grades 1 - 2
Developmental Basketball League
Grades: Boys & Girls Grades 1-2
Fee: $100

Get started with the basics of basketball in this program for first and second graders. Also available at the Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse. Also available at the Southport Clubhouse.
Grades 3 - 5
Pee Wee Basketball League
Grades: Boys Grades 3-5
Fee: $129
Dates: November 11, 2025 - February 2, 2026
Times: 5:30 - 8:30 PM Weeknights, and Weekend Games. Times Vary.
Location: Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse
Learn team building skills and develop basketball ability through team-based pay. Generations of boys and girls in grades 3-5 have had fun, learned skills, and made friends. Also available at the Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse (boys and girls teams).
Grades 6 - 8
Junior Basketball League
Grades: 6-8
Fee: $129
Season: February 2 - April 10, 2026
Time: 5:30 - 8:30 PM Weeknights, and Weekend Games. Times Vary.
Location: Southport Clubhouse and Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse
Boys Junior League is the exciting place where 6th, 7th and 8th graders choose to play in a structured environment while learning the game and developing team skills and concepts. While traditionally a league for boys, girls are welcome too! Each grade group
is scheduled to play in separate divisions however two grades may be combined based on registration. Players are assigned to a team that practices one night during the week (Monday-Friday based on participant’s availability) and play one game each weekend. Teams play a 7-game regular season and then a single elimination playoff to crown a champion in each division. Home court specified
during registration.
Travel Basketball
Grades 5 - 8 | Fee $275

WBGC's Travel Basketball program is for players looking to play beyond the rec level, with teams coached by experiences, paid coaches who strive to emphasize a higher level of competitive basketball experience and commitment. Teams play in the Fairfield County Basketball League (FCBL) and practice two nights per week. Practice schedules and locations are consistent for the entire season. Open to all Bridgeport residents. Fee is subsidized.

If you are not a current Wakeman Boys & Girls Club member, register as a non-member. Registration is required. Participants under 18 years old require a parent/guardian for registration. The program is a collaboration with the Bridgeport Police Department.
