Since 1913, the Southport Clubhouse has served the youth of Fairfield and surrounding towns with a wide range of academic, artistic, athletic, and community service activities.

At the Southport Clubhouse, members have access to two full-court basketball gyms, a Power Hour Homework Room, teen lounge, and classrooms for programs that focus on STEAM, community service, and leadership development. Just outside the front door, members can enjoy the full-size turf field, an adjacent Sport Court, and an expanding play area that features a Gaga Ball pit and a newly built outdoor theater.

Volunteer Opportunities

If you are an adult or teen interested in inspiring, motivating and improving young lives, we would love to have you join our team as a volunteer!


Volunteer opportunities are available for tutoring, coaching, college prep, fitness, STEM, arts, mentoring, career planning and more. Development volunteers are also sought to support the good work done throughout the organization.

Employment Opportunities

Wakeman Boys & Girls Club employs more than 40 teens annually between the Southport Clubhouse and McKinley School Program for a variety of positions after school, nights, weekends and summer.  Applicants must be at least 16 years old and available a minimum of 2 shifts per week. Our staff are dynamic, engaging, passionate and full of energy and work together with our many adult Youth Development Professionals.

Board Volunteer Opportunities

The Unit Advisory Board assists the Southport Clubhouse professional staff in maintaining healthy, happy, and safe clubhouses for youth. Through bi-monthly meetings and regular collaboration with Club directors, the Unit Advisory Board specifically focuses on the delivery of the Club’s programs. Members of both the Unit Advisory Board and the Board of Trustees are active participants in the organization’s resource development initiatives and serve as Club ambassadors in the community.
