After School Program at the Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse
The After School Program (ASP) at Smilow-Burroughs is the place to be after school for kids and teens in grades K-12! Located in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, the Club offers enriching programming that promotes academic success, character & leadership, and healthy lifestyles...and offers a sense of belonging to every child who walks through the doors.

The ever-popular After School Program is for all members in Grades K-8 who use the Club weekdays from 2:30pm-6:00pm.
ASP at SBC runs daily: Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-6pm on school days following the Bridgeport Public Schools Calendar.
Members can expect to experience the following as part of the After School Program:
- Homework Help
- STEAM Activities
- Computer Lab
- Use of Gymnasium
- Open Recreation
- Daily Snacks
- Special Events
Grades K-2:
Dedicated classroom staff with structured games, art, game room, STEAM activities and more, indoors and outdoors. K-2nd graders always remain with their group.
Grades 3-5:
Flexible variety of supervised activity spaces available every 30 minutes with a blend of staff-organized and self-organized activities. 3rd-5th graders can move about premises on their own, with some limitations
Grades 6-8:
Middle school members have designated times to use the Middle School Lounge, gym, and other Club spaces. Homework help is available for all grades Monday-Thursday.
Grades 9-12:
9-12th graders can use the Clubhouse Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-8:00pm and have access to a dedicated Teen Lounge, as well as designated times to use the gym and other Club spaces. Howework help and Open Rec is available daily, as well as other teen programs such as Keystone Club, Torch Club, and diplomas2Degrees, with more coming soon! After School Program registration is not required for high school members to drop in during after school time.
ASP Registration & Memberships
Online registration for the 2024-25 school year is now open.
Memberships are required to participate in any program or Open Gym drop in and are available for
purchase or renewal online. A full membership is valid for one year (365 days) from the day it is purchased or renewed.

- A valid membership is required before registering for ASP. Learn more about membership.
- After School Program enrollment can be completed anytime during the school year, space permitting.
- Families who wish to withdraw from ASP are required to give two weeks' notice to the Membership Director.
- All K-8th graders attending the Club after school must be enrolled in the After School Program, unless they are enrolled ina different specific WBGC program that meets after school.
* All WBGC fees are subsidized as a primary focus of our mission is to give access to all. To account for these subsidies, the full fee price will come up on your registration; however, please be assured that your card will not be charged until the requested tier is reviewed, approved, and adjustments are made to your account balance.
Wakeman Boys & Girls Club’s after-school program, serving 6 through 12 year olds, is exempt from the State of Connecticut childcare licensure as per the Office of Early Childhood. All Wakeman BGC programs adhere to the membership and safety standards set forth by Boys & Girls Club of America.
