After School Program at the Madison Ave Community Clubhouse

The After School Program (ASP) is the place to be after school for kids and teens in grades K-8! The Club offers enriching programming that promotes academic success, character & leadership, and healthy lifestyles, and offers a sense of belonging to every child who walks through the doors.

The After School Program is for all members in Grades K-8 who use the Club weekdays from 2:30pm-6:00pm.

Grades K-8:

Runs daily: Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-6pm on school days following the Bridgeport Public Schools Calendar


Students in elementary school and middle school can expect to experience the following as part of the After School Program:

  • Homework Help
  • STEM Activities
  • Technology Room
  • Use of Gymnasium
  • Open Recreation
  • Daily Snacks
  • Special Events
  • A destination on Early Dismissal days at school


Grades 9-12:

9-12th graders can use the Clubhouse Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-8:00pm.

Online registration for the 2026-27 school year is now open.


NEW! Every child who is enrolled in our ASP will receive a complimentary membership providing access to programs and member events at all three WBGC Clubhouses during their ASP participation!

Register Here For After School


  • All K-8th graders attending the Club after school must be enrolled in the After School Program. All members in Kindergarten through grade 8 are welcome in the After School Program, regardless of age.


  • Enrollment: After School Program enrollment can be completed anytime during the school year, space permitting. Families who wish to withdraw from ASP are required to give two weeks' notice to the Membership Director.


  • Dates: Our ASP program will operate from Tuesday, September 8, 2026 to Friday, June 11, 2027 at all three Clubhouses and our McKinley School-Based site.



  • Early Dismissal School Days: The program is available on planned early dismissal days that are part of the Fairfield (for our Southport Clubhouse and McKinley School-Based site) and Bridgeport (for our Madison Avenue and Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouses) public school calendars.


  • School's Out Days: ASP participants are eligible to attend our School's Out Day programming at a discounted rate of $30/day. Please visit our School's Out webpage for more information.


  • Sibling Discount: NEW! If families have multiple children enrolled in an of our After School programs, each child enrolled after the first child will be eligible for a 10% discount. This discount will be activated by the Clubhouse Membership Director upon registration.


* All WBGC fees are subsidized as a primary focus of our mission is to give access to all. To account for these subsidies, the full fee price will come up on your registration; however, please be assured that your card will not be charged until the requested tier is reviewed, approved, and adjustments are made to your account balance. Tiered Pricing

We understand families have differing abilities to pay for programs, so to make the Club more accessible for all, we offer a tiered pricing system for our After School Program, School’s Out Program, and Summer Camp. Please choose the tier most fitting for your family. All members will have the same experience with their peers regardless of which tier a family selects. Tier selections are confidential and can be selected online. Families should understand Tier A is the base parent fee charged for program; families should pay this price if they can. ASP rates do not include days off from school and are not prorated based on missed days, Club closures, vacation days or snow. They do include school early dismissal days. Our School's Out Program is available (fee applies) on scheduled vacation days. 

Wakeman Walkers

Wakeman BGC staff walk members from school to the Clubhouse. We will offer our Wakeman Walkers Program from the following schools this year:

  • Columbus School
  • Geraldine Johnson School
  • St. Raphael School

Wakeman Walkers operates throughout the school year, rain or shine. Registration for Wakeman Walkers is part of the overall ASP registration process. 


We require ten or more kids to initiate a Wakeman Walkers program at a school. 


Additionally, we offer bus services from Achievement First Elementary and Middle School and Adam J. Lewis Academy.

The weekly ASP rate includes programming on all Bridgeport Public School’s scheduled early release days. The clubhouse opens at 1pm on scheduled school early dismissal days for members enrolled in the After School Program; the clubhouse does not open early when schools close early due to weather or other unexpected circumstances.
