SBC After School Program

After School Programs                                                  Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse

The Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse offers an after school program for 3rd-8th grade members from 3:00pm-6:00pm weekdays.  Members who attend Bridgeport schools can find the nearest bus stop location in proximity to the Clubhouse and use that as their stop to attend the Clubhouse, or arrange their own transportation with parents/guardians.  Bus transportation is available from the Fairfield School District for McKinley School, and Holland Hill.  Members may participate in a variety of daily activities including: art, technology, homework, gym, game room, and studio. Members that participate in our after school program receive a free healthy snack each day.

Our after school program follows a rotating schedule where each grade rotates activities every 30 minutes. This enables members to participate in all of our program areas, as well as keeping members with their fellow grade members and not staying in one area for the entire afternoon. There is thirty minutes each day for members to complete homework.  Members are required to complete their homework every day unless a parent chooses to have their child complete homework at home.
Fairfield & Bridgeport Schools at SBC
Boys & Girls Grades 3-8 & 9-12

Members are welcome at our Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse from any area school/town.  All members who attend Bridgeport schools must find the nearest bus stop location in proximity to our clubhouse and use that as his/her stop to get here OR find their own transportation with parents/guardians, etc. Holland Hill Elementary School and McKinley Elementary School in Fairfield provide bus transportation for 3rd-5th graders directly to the Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse through a partnership between Wakeman and the Fairfield School District. Bus is available every full day of school and all early dismissal days on the Fairfield school calendar. A "late bus" is also available from school to Wakeman on select days.
After School Program
Members rotate by grade every 30 minutes through activity areas in the clubhouse between 3:00pm and 6:00pm. Areas include homework help, game room, gym, computers, art, fitness studio and more. A free daily healthy snack is provided by the Club to all after school program participants.  Homework is required of all members each day except Friday.  Parents are responsible for picking up their child from Wakeman. The structured after school program ends at 6:00pm.  Members in 3rd-5th grade may stay for Open Rec from 6:00pm-7:00pm and must be picked up by 7:00pm.  Members in 6th-12th grade may stay for Open Rec from 6:00pm-8:00pm and must be picked up by 8:00pm.
