Maria was a member of Wakeman since she was 8 years old. Maria returned in 2008 as Program Director of Art, Education & Leadership Development. While a member, Maria was a recipient of Youth of the Year honors and Oprah’s Angel Network Scholarship through Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Maria focuses on cultivating creativity, civic engagement and leadership among youth and teens at the Club, including as Keystone Club advisor, Junior Staff supervisor, and Annual Fine Arts Exhibit coordinator.
Maria was selected to serve on BGCA's Adult Steering Committee for three Regional and one National Keystone Conference. In the fall of 2013, Maria served as the conference Co-Manager to the 2013 Northeast Regional Keystone Summit. For the past 3 years, she has served on the steering committee for Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s CT State Youth of the Year event. Maria also serves as Vice President of the CT Association of Boys & Girls Club Professionals, aiding in the development of trainings for state professionals and providing opportunities for Club members to participate in state-wide Club events. Maria earned a B.A. from Providence College and resides in Fairfield.
