Amanda Sheldon has been with Wakeman since 2015. Her current responsibilities include supervision of the Wakeman Outreach, including the Great Futures and Smart Moves Mentoring Programs, athletic programs, and Homework Club volunteers. In her role at Wakeman, Amanda also serves as the Administrator of Wakeman's Lighthouse Program at Geraldine Claytor STEAM Magnet Academy in Bridgeport.
Amanda is from Brazil and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Languages from the University of Minas Gerais ( FUNEDI-UEMG). She has been a teacher for more than eight years and prior to joining Wakeman she worked for the Danbury Public School system as an ESL Para-educator, helping foreign students and their families. In Brazil, Amanda was a private and public school instructor, teaching both Portuguese and English. She loves cooking, running, and mixed martial arts.
