Who We Are
Founded in 1913, Wakeman Boys & Girls Club offers more than 100 annual programs to help its youth members build self-esteem, acquire honest values and pursue productive futures through five core program areas: Character and Leadership Development, Sports/Fitness and Recreation, Educational and Career Development, The Arts, and Health and Life Skills. Wakeman serves 3,900 children in 1st - 12 grades through its Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse in Bridgeport, Southport and Stratfield Clubhouses in Fairfield, and Outreach Program at McKinley Elementary School.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America
Wakeman is a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a national network made up of over 4,300 neighborhood clubs that reach over 4.5 million children & young adults. Through a number of activities, Boys & Girls Clubs help their members build self-esteem, acquire honest values & pursue productive futures.
