TORCH CLUB (SOUTHPORT) GRADES 7-8 $60 (includes sweatshirt)
Torch Club is a small leadership group and service club for boys and girls in 7th and 8th grade. Torch Club is a powerful vehicle, which club staff can help meet the special character development needs of youngsters and adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club learns to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: Service to Club and Community, Education, Health and Fitness, and Social Recreation.
REQUIREMENTS: Members are required to attend two meetings a month and perform 2 hours of Club or Community Service, per month from October-June. They will also be required to complete one hour of scorekeeping during December and January during Wakeman's busiest basketball season, totaling 3 hours per month. These hours are completed through projects that Torch Club members and advisors plan.

Anyone interested in joining Torch Club (including returning members from 2010-2011) must complete the following requirements and return the application to Wakeman by Monday, September 12th, 2011. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER SEPTEMBER 12TH. Participating in the application process does not guarantee acceptance into Torch Club.
1) Submit competed HANDWRITTEN Torch Club Application and Questionnaire by September 12th, 2011. Questions are located on following page.
2) Interview- Each NEW applicant will be contacted by a Torch Club advisor to arrange an interview that will take place between September 19th through September 29th. Returning members do not need to be interviewed.
3) After review of applications and interviews, accepted Torch Club members will be posted on www.wakemanclub.com by September 30th. The first meeting will take place October 2nd at 6:00pm.
Upon acceptance into the Torch Club, members are required to bring a $60.00 check to the first meeting on October 2nd and have an updated 2011-2012 membership.
Please make sure that you will be able to fulfill the commitment of attending meetings and completing the required volunteer hours of Club/Community hours each month.
