FAST - Freshman as Staff Trainees
The goal of FAST volunteers is to help 3rd-5th grade members learn to play by the rules, make new friends, and have fun, especially in the game room, gym, kitchen and field. Other responsibilitites may include assisting with classes, setting up for programs, mailings, working one on one with children with special needs, and much more. FAST participants will volunteer after school at least one day each week for a total of ten hours a month for three months (25 hours minimum). Athletes who have one or two off-seasons will also be considered. Hours are arranged around each volunteer's availability between hours of 3:30-6:30. Students serve as volunteers-in-training for "Junior Staff". Junior Staff are the part-time paid sophomores, juniors and seniors on staff at the Clubhouse.
FAST volunteers will follow the National Boys & Girls Club of America's "Smart Leaders Program" and the Junior Staff Training curriculum. Participation in FAST will also better prepare candidates who choose to apply for paid staff positions when they become sophomores. Please note: participation in FAST does not guarantee paid staff positions sophomore year.
FAST applications should be submitted on or before:
Fall: September 6th
Winter: December 6th
Spring: March 28th
The FAST program will only take place at the Stratfield Clubhouse this year and is limited to ten members each season. Potential applicants who miss deadline may contact the Club to inquire about possible availability.
